Conceptual Illustration Magazine Spread

In this conceptual project my goal was to represented the idea of a smart home not working correctly with the use of the color red representing a warning signal. The red loading sign inside the home shows that the home is not working properly. The circles, based on my choice of typeface, that are fading from purple to red show this slow connection.

In my design, I selected the typeface Potra since it has a technical feel and the O resembles a power symbol with the circle on the top. I paired this type with Montserrat since the shape fits in well with this display type Potra. In the illustration, I showed someone holding a phone with a smart phone app open. I also created a lock icon and a circle icon from the typeface. I used it to represent a slow connection between the phone and the house by transitioning from the purple to red. To connect the color red to a bad connection, I made the word Pitfalls in red. In the house icon I showed wifi coming out of the chimney showing that this is a smart home paired with the red loading sign in the house to show that it is running slowly and there is a disconnect.
